All auditions are by appointment only.
Concert Winds Auditions are available: 5/29 - 6/5
Wind Symphony (High School only): 6/15 - 6/18
Percussion: If possible, please try to sign up for either 6/1 or 6/15 to better accommodate your auditions.
* If you cannot audition during this timeframe, you must make arrangements to audition before then.
Audition Information
Wind Symphony (High School students)
•. All 12 major scales and arpeggios memorized
two octaves where possible. Three octaves where possible (clarinets and flutes)
• Chromatic Scale full range of your instrument memorized
Scales are played tongued going up and slurred coming down.
Percussion scales are played full range on the xylophone.
• Both audition etudes (not memorized)
Concert Winds (Junior High and High School students)
• Major scales and arpeggios memorized:
Concert pitch C, F, B flat, E flat, A flat, D Flat, G, and D
• Chromatic scale of 2 octaves memorized
Scales are played tongued going up and slurred coming down.
Percussion scales are played two octaves on the xylophone.
• Both audition etudes (not memorized)
(Percussionists perform the etudes for snare drum, xylophone and timpani)
Students who audition for Wind Symphony but do not perform at an acceptable level may be invited to play in the Concert Winds at the director’s discretion.
Auditions are held in person at the Loma Linda Academy band room.
